Evaluation coming fall, 2008!
The DEER Center conducts evaluations of the cognitive fitness-to-drive for older drivers, drivers with attention disorders due to brain trauma from stroke or head injury or neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, etc). We do not conduct driver rehabilitation, or occupational or physical therapy, for patients that would require an adapted vehicle. Links to facilities that provide these services can be found on our Resources page.
The DEER Center evaluation protocol consists of three parts: visual function testing, computer-based cognitive function testing, and simulated driving that is conducted in the AAA Michigan Driving Simulator.
Evaluations are conducted on a fee-for-service basis. The DEER Center has a sliding fee schedule based upon financial need. Payment is expected at the time of service.
